Fact of the Day: The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic American landmark. Did you know that the Golden Gate Bridge is almost a mile and a half long (8,981 feet)? Did you know that the Golden Gate Bridge is not golden; it is painted International Orange? It’s location over the Golden Gate Strait gives the bridge its name. It took 4 years and 4 months to build and was estimated to cost $35 million dollars to construct. However, the bridge came in under budget costing 27 million to complete.
