Fact of the Day: The M&M on M&M’s candies stands for “Mars” and “Murrie.” Forrest Mars and Bruce Murrie were the creators of the candies. By 1949, the two were at odds and Mars leveraged Murrie out of the company. Mars paid Murrie $1M to buy his 20% of shares. The company, just a decade later, was worth billions of dollars.
