March 8, 2023 Announcements

Girls’ Volleyball:  Team pizza party will be on Thursday from 5:00-6:00 pm.   Track athletes and Scholastic Bowl members can go to the party after your practice (Track) and match (Scholastic Bowl)  Players not in track or Scholastic Bowl will need to go home after school and then come back for the party.   Uniforms will be turned in at the party!
Student Council:  Student council is holding a clothes drive until Wednesday, March 8th. Please bring in any clothes you are no longer using to help us be able to give to those in need. Pennies for Pizza: The 7th grade pizza party will be tomorrow,  Wednesday March 8!   Congrats! 
Track:   MS Track Practice will continue today from 3:30-5:00 pm.  Please remember to have your parents register you on 8to18.   Several athletes who signed up to be on the team still need to turn in a physical in order to be able to practice.   
Scholastic Bowl:  Congrats to the varsity team on a 115-110 win over PC last night.  The JV fell  195-75 but had some great moments.    Tonight:  Varsity and JV practice from 3:30-4:30 pm.  

Art Club:     6th grade will meet again on Tuesday March 14  after school until 4:30pm.

Soccer Meeting:   There will be a soccer meeting with Coach Alvarez for 8th graders during Exploratory from 8:30-8:50 am on Friday March 10.   Please go to the multipurpose room at that time if you intend to play HS soccer.  

March Madness:  The 3rd Quarter Raider Recipe event will take place on Friday March 17 during PE classes.   It will be a March Madness themed event.   You will find out on Tuesday March 14 if you qualify!   Please finish strong this week so you can attend this event!

Chess Club:  TODAY  (Wednesday March 8) from 3:30-4:30 pm 

Fact of the Day:   Which state has the most active volcanoes?  If you said, “Hawaii,” you are wrong.  There are about 169 volcanoes in the United States that scientists consider active. Most of these are located in Alaska, where eruptions occur virtually every year. Others are located throughout the west and, of course, in Hawaii.

Spring Dance:  Don’t forget that the Spring Dance, hosted by our very own Student Council, will be this Friday March 10 from 6:30 to 8:30pm.  Remember, you need to be passing your classes to attend and not be on social probation. Price is $5 for the student body and $3 for student council members and 8th graders. 8th Graders are also invited to come at 6:00 pm for an ice cream social.

Homework Club:  Tuesdays & Thursdays after school until 4:00 pm in Ms. Gorbett’s room!   Come check it out!
