January 18, 2023  Announcements                                          

Boys’ Basketball:   The 6th and 7th graders came away with wins last night, while the 8th graders lost a close one to Tri-Point.    Tonight:  7th grade practice from 5:15 to 6:45 pm.    8th grade had morning practice.   I hope you made it!     The 6th grade season is now over.    6th graders can turn in washed uniforms and warm-ups to Mr. Kimmel at anytime.   
Cheerleading:  None
Wrestling:  Practice tonight at Nash Middle School from 4-6 pm.  
Girls’ Volleyball:   6th Grade:  Lost one set, won one set!   7th Grade:  Won in 3 sets.   8th Grade:  Lost in two sets.      Today:  6th Grade practice from 1:30 – 3:15 pm today.  (you will stay after school for practice with Coach Schumacher)   7th and 8th Grade practice from 3:30-5:00 pm.    
Student Council:  Pennies for pizza starts today until Feb 8th. The grade that brings in the most amount of money ( over $50) will receive pizza. For every dollar you bring in, a chain will be hung in your hallway to show your progress. Money raised will go to benefit the students. 
Scholastic Bowl: Next practice is Thursday Jan. 19:  3:30-4:30 pm. 

Art Club:   8th grade will meet again next Tuesday January 24. 

Pennies for Pizza:  Starting today we will be kicking off our Pennies for pizza fundraiser! Students will bring in coins (any types of coins) until Feb. 8th. We will track how much they have brought in with chains in the specific grade level hallway. For every dollar the students bring in, a chain link will be added. The grade level with the highest amount ( over $50) will be given a pizza party. The proceeds will go to buy/ fix the water fountain in the seventh grade hallway/ add a fill station. Change can be brought to the office or to Ms. Cabrera’s room.  Bins have been set up to keep track of each grade level. Good Luck and may the best class win!!!

Locker Rocker TripThe 1st Semester Locker Rocker Bowling trip will be Friday January 27.  Students that qualify will get a permission slip and information sheet today at lunchtime.   Each teacher will be emailed Locker Rocker totals so that students can check in with you about their totals during Exploratory or Advisory classes.  If there are any mistakes in  student totals, please contact  Mr. Kimmel.   Thank you!

Chess Club:  Open to all 6, 7, 8th graders.  Once we get permission slips back there will be a poll for which day of the week will work best.  Please, for those who took out permission slips, Mr. Snowden needs those back ASAP!!!

Fact of the Day:  Louis Braille was 12 years old when he began transforming a method of silent communication used by the French military into a language that allows blind people to read.

Homework Club:  Tuesdays & Thursdays we will host a Homework club from after school to 4PM.  This will be hosted in Ms. Gorbett’s room.
