Fact of the Day: Halloween is a Pagan holiday that dates back approximately 2,000 years. Irish immigrants, in the mid-1800’s, are credited with bringing the Halloween tradition to the US. Today is the 2nd most commercialized day besides Christmas. It is estimated that $8 billion dollars in candy, costumes, and decorations were spent in anticipation of today. Also, Illinois produces 5 times as many pumpkins than any other state. The key reason, the pumpkins love the Land of Lincoln soil.
