Final eLearning Schedule

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

We, at the middle school, are saddened that our school will not be able to open back up for face to face instruction due to the Covid-19 epidemic.  Our heart goes out to all students that have missed friends, teachers, and the various activities that define what it means to “Be A Raider.”  I know there are many questions that everyone is looking to have answered.  Please know that as a staff, we are working through uncertain and challenging times and will share with you information as it is finalized.

Below is a tentative calendar for the remainder of the school year (This is subject to change as more information comes from Springfield):

Many of you have questions about how 4th quarter and 2nd semester grades will be calculated.  The following policy has been created in alignment with the Illinois State Board of Education guidelines:

  • 3rd Quarter grades will remain the same
  • 4th Quarter grades students will earn a P (Pass) or I (Incomplete)
  • To receive a P for the 4th quarter, a student must complete and turn in 75% of the assigned remote learning assignments.

If a student does not complete and turn in 75% of the assigned remote learning assignments, then that student will receive an Incomplete.  Seniors will have until May 18th to complete and turn in remote learning assignments.  Freshman, sophomores, and juniors will have until May 29th to complete and turn in remote learning assignments.  No students will be required to take final exams.

The following will be used to determine a student’s semester grade:

3rd Quarter 4th Quarter Semester
A Pass A
B Pass A
C Pass B
D Pass C
F Pass D

If a student earns an Incomplete and does not complete and turn in the remote learning assignments, they will receive a semester grade equivalent to their 3rd quarter grade.

In the near future, expect to hear from us with detailed plans about the following:

  • Returning locker contents to students
  • Returning Chromebooks to school
  • Returning library books and textbooks to school

We are proud of students, teachers, and parents for all of their hard work during these trying times.

Sincerely,

Duane L. Ehmen

Principal
